Rheumatologists are entrusted with the safe care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases that require the careful choice of safe and effective pharmaceutical and biological therapies. Insurers, Medicaid and Medicare are increasingly shifting the cost of these lifesaving and life-improving medications to patients, limiting patient access.
CSRO develops and supports campaigns in support of access to medication. CSRO is actively engaged at the state and federal level on such issues as regulating the substitution of biologics; limiting step therapy/ fail first and specialty tiers; increasing Medicare Part D coverage.
CSRO encourages state and regional rheumatology organizations and their members to advocate for patient access, offering a wide-range of resources.
