Establishing the Legal Framework for a State Society

First, you need to determine who you want as members of your state society and the geographical areas you want to include in your organization (for example, you may decide to include a particular region or area rather than the entire state).

Next, you will need to retain an attorney to assist you with forming the legal entity and developing the Articles of lncorporation that will be filed with your state's Secretary of State - the cost varies widely depending on area and attorney. You will also need to obtain a Federal Tax ID number and apply for 501c3 status with the IRS
